New OS and Browser problems

I recently purchased a new laptop :). It came with Windows 8.1 :(. Anyway, now the forum editor toolbars do not display correctly. Both SeaMonkey and IE only show the Font and Size labels for both regular and advanced (advanced is thicker top to bottom). The other commands are there, you just can't see them. Before I revert to Windows 7 (not only because of this problem), has anyone experienced this before? I have searched numerous searches and checked out various forums but no luck.
